Having an accurate asset catalog and hierarchy forms the backbone of any system in which information is stored and used. An asset catalog includes: functional asset hierarchy; system, equipment (asset), and component definition; component configuration; and component attributes. Allied Reliability Group’s Asset Cataloging solution enables accurate planning and assignment of work, improved parts/component control, and allocation of maintenance costs to the proper equipment at the correct level of detail; enables tracking of the condition and performance of equipment; provides a linkage between equipment and reliability improvement techniques; and improves planning from complete equipment information, including job kitting, among other benefits.

Criticality analysis is a process for determining the relative ranking of assets in a plant or system. By objectively ranking assets and forming a collective agreement and analysis, determinations can be made as to which items receive preferential treatment with respect to financial consequence, Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) consequence, production priority, and resource allocation. Criticality analysis also aids work management processes by prioritizing strategies on the most critical equipment in the plant, as well as by prioritizing backlogs.

Allied Reliability Group’s unique three-tiered approach to Equipment Maintenance Plan (EMP) development ensures best practice implementation. As part of the EMP development process, Allied works with your team to develop a list PM and PdM tasks that are going to be performed on the asset base, the frequency at which they are going to be performed, who will perform them, and how long each task will take. The resulting EMP will be an engineered maintenance strategy based on failure modes of the component parts that replaces traditional PM activities with PdM technologies to reduce intrusive maintenance actions while increasing equipment availability. After that, 80% to 90% of the components are then set up as a standardized EMP. For 5% up to a maximum of 20% of the components, RCM and/or RCA must be performed due to the fact that the component is very critical, is a bad actor, or has specific working conditions that have an influence on the failure modes. For up to 10% of the components, a Run-to-Failure strategy has to be set up.

Benchmark data and Allied Reliability Group’s experience show that many of the Preventive Maintenance (PM) procedures in a plant’s CMMS have not been optimized. Allied’s Preventive Maintenance Evaluation (PME) process begins with assessing all PMs associated with the asset types in your facility as compared to those recommended by your EMP. Each PM is assigned one of the following characteristics: Eliminate; Replace PM with PdM; Reengineer; or No Change. Once the PME has been executed and reviewed, the question remains: how will you achieve the intended reliability improvement gains with the acquired information? Simply removing any and all non-value added PMs will not be enough to maximize the full benefits. You must break the PM tasks down to determine if the PM tasks address the failure modes of each asset. Allied’s Preventive Maintenance Optimization (PMO) solution offers a more cost effective and less time consuming solution than a traditional RCM approach by breaking down your PM procedures at a task level (simple, detailed and/or compliant procedure) and verifying that they prevent the intended failure.
